Solafune Signs MoU with the DRC National Remote Sensing Centre (CNT)
Solafune and CNT to advance AI-powered satellite applications for national development priorities

On December 9th, 2025, Solafune, Inc. (CEO: Ren Uechi), a company specializing in satellite data analysis and the operator of the satellite data analytics platform Solafune, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s National Remote Sensing Centre (CNT) to promote the integration of AI into satellite data analytics across key sectors, including agriculture, environmental management, volcano monitoring, forestry, and more.
During the ceremony, Freddy Kankolongo from Solafune’s Business Development team, on behalf of Solafune, expressed its sincere gratitude to the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Embassy of Japan in DRC, Solafune’s CEO Ren Uechi, and the entire Solafune team for their trust and commitment in bringing this partnership to fruition. Freddy also recalled that the establishment of CNT originated from the vision and request of His Excellency President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo to the Government of Japan, an initiative that remains a strong motivation for Solafune, as a private Japanese company, to contribute to the advancement of remote sensing capabilities in the DRC through Japanese technology and innovation.
CNT emphasized that it will reinforce its engagement in remote sensing—an essential scientific and technological field capable of promoting peace, innovation, and sustainable development in the country. The Ministry of Higher Education, University Education, Scientific Research and Innovations (MINESURSI) reiterated the President’s vision to integrate remote sensing into national development strategies and to strengthen scientific innovation across sectors.
Scope of the MoU and Target Areas of Collaboration
Since Solafune’s initial engagement with CNT in 2023, we have navigated various challenges together to reach this MoU. In parallel with this process, we also successfully concluded a separate MoU in the mining domain during TICAD 9. (Read here for the details: https://company.solafune.com/news/solafune-signs-mou-ceremony-with-drc-at-ticad9). This newly signed MoU with CNT marks an important return to the President’s original vision.
Under this MoU, Solafune and CNT will jointly develop projects in strategic domains, including:
Agriculture
Environmental management
Volcano monitoring
Flood detection and early-warning systems
Landslide analysis
Additional applications based on AI and advanced data analytics
CNT will serve as the liaison with the relevant ministries requiring these technologies, while Solafune will provide technical solutions in close coordination with CNT teams. Each project will be governed by a specific agreement and a clearly defined operational workflow, ensuring transparency, coordination, and efficiency.
Next Steps
Solafune and CNT will immediately begin identifying priority sectors based on ministries’ readiness and national needs.
Solafune respectfully thanks the Embassy of Japan in DRC, for its presence, support, and continued collaboration during this significant step toward strengthening scientific and technological cooperation between Japan and the DRC.
