Background of the Competition

This competition challenges participants to tackle the critical environmental issue of deforestation by leveraging cutting-edge satellite data and machine learning technologies to derive new insights.

Deforestation not only accelerates biodiversity loss and climate change but also disrupts water cycles and causes soil erosion, profoundly impacting our planet. The goal is to use remote sensing data to accurately identify and classify areas affected by major drivers of deforestation, such as agricultural expansion, mining, and urbanization.

By analyzing regions where the effects are particularly pronounced, such as tropical rainforests, participants can gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics of deforestation. This effort will contribute to building effective global conservation strategies and pave the way toward a sustainable future.
