Solafune Hosts "Aerosol Optical Depth Estimation" Competition to Contribute to Environmental Issues
Solafune releases new competition based around aerosol optical depth

Solafune, Inc. (President & CEO, Ren Uechi) is pleased to announce the launch of a new competition, "Aerosol Optical Depth Estimation,” to develop AI technology to estimate aerosol optical depth (AOD) using satellite images.
Background of the Competition
Participants in this competition are required to estimate AOD using Sentinel-2 satellite data and improve the estimation accuracy by leveraging its spectral bands and spatial resolution.
AOD quantifies the amount of aerosols present in the atmosphere and is an important parameter in understanding air quality and climate change. Through the competition, we aim to improve the accuracy of AOD estimation and facilitate improved monitoring and decision-making for the environment; we hope to advance the methodology of AOD estimation and contribute to global efforts to protect the environment and mitigate climate change.
