Solafune Selected for The Space Strategy Fund at JAXA

Solafune partners with JAXA for a strategy fund project.

Solafune, Inc. (CEO: Ren Uechi), which develops and provides satellite data analysis technology and operates the satellite data analysis platform "Solafune," is pleased to announce that it has been selected as one of the companies to participate in the The Space Strategy Fund at JAXA. This project features 22 themes, and we’ve been chosen for the “Feasibility Study of Overseas Demonstration of Satellite Data Utilization System” theme. The Space Strategy Fund at JAXA program aims to expand the space market, address global and societal challenges, and pioneer new frontiers in space. Solafune is fully committed to contributing to the achievement of these objectives.

■ About the Feasibility Study of Overseas Demonstration of Satellite Data Utilization System

In order to expand the Japanese space industry market, it is essential not only to grow the space hardware sector—such as satellites, rockets, and other space equipment—but also to expand the solutions market that leverages these technologies. When developing business in the satellite data-driven solutions sector, it is important to target the global market, including overseas, right from the start.

Under this theme, support is provided for the development and demonstration of satellite data utilization systems that address social issues overseas. The aim is to expand the space solutions market by promoting the global rollout of satellite data utilization businesses. To understand the needs of overseas government agencies and end users and to refine the business model, the project will initially be conducted as a feasibility study (FS) lasting approximately two years, which will then serve as a basis for considering larger-scale projects.

■ About Solafune's Selected Theme

Solafune has been selected for our technology development challenge titled "AI and LLM-Powered Technologies for Hyperspectral Mineral Exploration and Resource Governance."

Utilizing AI-driven satellite data analysis technology, our company is advancing the deployment of “SHIGEN AI” as a service for government agencies to support mineral resource exploration and monitor development activities. Results from our previous product development and testing have indicated a need for further improvement in AI accuracy. Therefore, in this technical development project, we will enhance analysis precision by incorporating hyperspectral data in addition to the optical satellite imagery we have traditionally used. Furthermore, to ensure that government agency personnel can easily use the system without requiring specialized knowledge in satellite imagery or data science, we plan to leverage large language models (LLMs) to improve usability.

Solafune is a start-up company that develops and provides satellite data analysis technology with the mission of "Hack The Planet. Our satellite data platform "Solafune" is used in approximately 110 countries and regions around the world, and we are actively providing our technology to countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and other parts of the world.
