■ Background of the selected project
Climate change is causing flood damage to an increasing number of areas worldwide, and infrastructure vulnerability is hindering economic development, particularly in countries in the Global South. Responding to floods is an urgent issue in the Republic of Senegal, where this demonstration project will be conducted, but human resources are limited, necessitating new countermeasures. Meanwhile, the country has established its new National Space Agency (ASES), which has shown a strong interest in digital transformation (DX) through the use of satellite data and the introduction of advanced technologies. Solafune has previously signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with ASES and has been engaged in comprehensive discussions aimed at resolving the country's challenges.
