Solafune Inc. (CEO: Ren Uechi) is pleased to announce the launch of a demonstration experiment utilizing satellite data and AI for embankment monitoring under the "Hatch Technology NAGOYA" program, organized by the Next-Generation Industry Promotion Division of the Nagoya City Economic Affairs Bureau.
■ Background
In recent years, large-scale embankment construction has led to frequent landslides across Japan, making countermeasures an urgent priority. Traditional embankment monitoring has relied primarily on on-site inspections and visual confirmation through aerial photographs, making it difficult to conduct large-scale monitoring and early detection. From May 19, 2025, Nagoya City will also implement the "Embankment Regulation Law," designating the entire city as a regulated area.
■ Details of the Demonstration Experiment
In this demonstration experiment, Solafune will use its AI-powered embankment monitoring system to conduct the following verifications on embankments within Nagoya City:
Detection of embankment changes using satellite data and AI
Comparative analysis of detection results with on-site inspection findings
Evaluation of the effectiveness of the embankment monitoring system

■ Project Features
Since embankments in urban areas, which are often subject to the Embankment Regulation Law, tend to pose higher risks than those in mountainous areas, the primary focus of this project will be on monitoring embankments in urban areas. Additionally, by utilizing optical imagery and AI instead of conventional SAR (radar) imagery, the system will detect ground changes with greater detail.
■ Expected Benefits
This demonstration experiment is expected to enable efficient monitoring of large-scale embankments in urban areas, leading to early detection of hazardous embankments, reduced disaster risks, improved efficiency, and cost reduction in embankment monitoring operations.
