Exploration Geologist

Responsibilities

- Conduct multi-scale geoscientific studies to identify mineral potential and refine exploration targets in underexplored regions of Africa, while advancing our knowledge of associated mineralization styles.
- Collect, process, and interpret geoscientific datasets to evaluate exploration zones and prioritize high-potential areas.
- Provide expert guidance to data scientists and engineers on geological remote sensing, contributing to the development of innovative mining solutions.
- Support our partners in planning, design, and execution of eventual field programs, including ground data collection and geophysical surveys.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government bodies, professional organizations, and partners during events, to promote collaborative initiatives.
- Contribute to writing project proposals for funding opportunities.
- Participate in on-the-ground assessments and collaborate with local partners to refine exploration outcomes.

Required Skills

- Proven technical knowledge of one or more ore deposit types. Experience working on sediment-hosted stratiform copper or magmatic sulfide systems will be considered an advantage.
- Deep understanding of geological controls on mineralization and their integration into mineral deposit models.
- Expertise in analyzing and modeling geoscientific data to support mineral exploration and resource evaluation.
- Proficiency in GIS platforms such as QGIS or similar software.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills to drive projects and work effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
- A keen interest in applying satellite imagery and remote sensing techniques to geological challenges.
- 3–7 years of experience in the mineral exploration industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in geology, geoscience, or a related field.

Preferred skills and experience (Nice to have)

- Advanced degrees (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in geology or related fields.
- Hands-on experience with Python for geoscientific analysis and scripting (not required)
- Familiarity with geostatistics or advanced statistical methods for geological datasets.
- International fieldwork experience, especially in Africa or similar regions.
- Experience with greenfield or brownfield exploration programs and early-stage project development.
- Knowledge of geotechnical work such as drilling or pre-feasibility studies.
